SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System Installation - 2014 Chevrolet Captiva Sport

Shane: I'm Shane with etrailer.com. Today I'm going to walk you through how I installed Demco's Stay-IN-Play Duo Supplemental Braking System on your 2014 Chevrolet Captiva. Braking system is going to be required by law on any vehicle being flat towed behind a motor home. It's going to be one of the six main components to flat tow the Captiva. The other five are going to be your base plate, your tow bar, your wiring, your safety cables, and a brake light switch. There's going to be two parts that I'm going to recommend. One's going to be a battery charge line because the braking system uses battery power to function. more

Today on our 2013 Chevrolet Captiva Sport we're going to add the SMI air pressure stop light switch kit, part number SM99629. Blue Ox Patriot Proportional Braking System Installation - 2013 Chevrolet Captiva Sport

Today, on our 2013 Chevrolet Captiva, we'll be installing the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System, part number BRK2012. Now, to begin our install, we need to run a wire through the firewall out to the front of the vehicle and ultimately, from our braking system to the breakaway switch. We're going to locate the manufacturer's main wiring harness that goes through the firewall and run our wire to the ground 00:00:28. On this application, the main wiring harness is located on the driver side behind the insulation, up above to the driver side of the brake pedal. Now, the manufacturer's ground 00:00:38 is a large circular black inaudible 00:00:41. The outer portion of the inaudible 00:00:44 is some very stiff rubber. However, the inner portion has some flexibility to it, but you'll need to be careful to make sure that you don't cut the manufacturer's wiring harness. more
